Digital Citizenship in Our Schools

Our school is focused on providing tools and resources for 21st Century learners that develop their progressive technology and communications skills in preparation for college, career, and life pursuits. We realize the importance of teaching our students how to make safe, smart, and ethical decisions in the digital world.

Our plan is to begin the new school year with teacher directed digital citizenship lessons from Common Sense Education delivered through Nearpod, an interactive app. As the year progresses, digital citizenship topics and discussions will be integrated into classroom lessons regularly.

We encourage families to establish their own digital media and device contracts once the school-issued iPad begins coming home. Common Sense Media has a toolkit http://bit.ly/CSEtoolkit that can help guide that discussion. A solid contract with your child can set expectations for activities such as social networking, gaming, and browsing the internet. Additional family resources are available on the district website at (http://www.eaglepnt.k12.or.us/teaching_learning/digital_learning/digital_citizenship/).
